First and Foremost:

Gather all the supplies you will require to do this task. Below is a list of everything that you will need to perform this task, take a look.

Step 1: General Preparation

Pick a spot where you want to hang your handmade chalkboard. After finding the place, cut the plywood or board according to the size of the wall. Score the board using straightedge and utility knife to achieve a clean-cut edge.

Step 2: Snap the Board

Put down a piece of thick lumber under and to the larger side of the cut. Now, push down on the scrap side in order to snap the board. Also, cut two or three pieces of frame board from the scrap piece you removed from the board. Use adhesive to each board and place under the board with the edges and ends flush. Now, dill the seam where both the pieces come together and screw them tightly. Afterwards, flip the entire plywood to the side you are going to paint.

Step 3: Sanding

Before applying the chalkboard paint on the board, you should sand the board using medium grit sandpaper and later finish it off with some finer one. Sanding will make the surface smooth and help in getting a better finish. Afterward, use a lint-free cloth to wipe all the sanded dust away.

Shake the chalkboard paint spray cane vigorously for one minute and make sure that the mixing ball begins to rattle.
